The city sleeps

Today we explore Amsterdam and the Queens Day celebration. We’ve been told that it is a huge street festival all day and that the center of town becomes a giant flea market. People have traveled here from around the world to celebrate, and supposedly there are over a million visitors to Amsterdam. Last night the city was howling with activity, but this morning the city lies still. I think everyone just went to sleep… it’s 9:45am. While we’re here we have plans to visit the Anne Frank House as well as the Van Gogh Museum, and maybe the Heineken Museum as well. Now it’s time to find a traditional Dutch breakfast.

I am at the box office working and I was at the store yesterday. Everything is going well here. Your doggies are happy and healthy. I hope you are doing fine and having fun. I heard about the incedent at the Queen’s Day parade on the news. I hope you were not anywhere near that. I can’t wait to see more of the great places you visit. Love, MOMleard
You’re trip sounds soo wonderful! I hope you are having a fantastic trip. I heard about the crazy car driver that crashed into people at the Queens Day parade and saw pictures of it online. I hope you guys are safe and weren’t close to that when it happened. Anywho, I hope you are taking TONS of pictures because I want to see them all!

Alan and Jana, hope you are having a wonderful time in Europe; It is true though Amsterdam is the best! Enjoy the wonderful cheese shops and the delicious dessert vendors, the Belgium waffles dipped in chocolate are to die for!! I am sure the Anne Frank house was quite moving. Isn’t amazing what tight quarters they lived in and the magazine cutouts still remain on Anne’s wall. Best wishes to you!!
